LCP Preload

Updated over 2 weeks ago

LCP Preload improves your site’s perceived speed by targeting one of the most important performance metrics: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).

When enabled, NitroPack automatically detects and preloads the LCP resource—usually the largest image or text block visible within the viewport. By loading this element earlier, the page appears faster to users and scores better on performance tools like Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights.

Why It Matters

Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) is one of the Core Web Vitals—a set of performance metrics defined by Google to measure real-world user experience. Specifically, LCP tracks how quickly the largest visible element on your page (like a hero image or headline) finishes loading.

A poor LCP score can make your site feel slow and directly impact your SEO rankings, conversion rates, and overall user satisfaction.

By preloading the LCP resource, NitroPack ensures that this key element is fetched earlier in the loading process. As a result, the browser can render it faster, improving your LCP score, enhancing your Core Web Vitals, and delivering a noticeably smoother experience, especially on mobile or slower networks.

How to Enable LCP Preload

  1. Log in to your NitroPack Dashboard

  2. Go to Cache Settings >> Images & Media

  3. Toggle on LCP Preload

With LCP Preload active, NitroPack gives your most important content a head start.
