NitroPack’s Core Web Vitals Widget (Speed Insiders only)
NitroPack’s Core Web Vitals Widget (Speed Insiders only)
Updated this week

Important: We’re gradually testing the new Core Web Vitals widget through our user base, starting with members of our Speed Insiders program. We’ll make the widget publicly available once the required tests are concluded.

NitroPack’s Core Web Vitals widget is an easy way to monitor field data metrics that show how real users experience your website.

Field data (also called Real User Monitoring or RUM) is collected from real page loads experienced by your website’s visitors. It reflects the experiences of users in different locations, on various devices, and network settings.

Lab data is the other type of data used in measuring web performance. It is collected within a controlled environment with a predefined device and network settings. In other words, it doesn’t represent how real users experience your site.

Field data is what really matters when it comes to website performance.

Furthermore, Google uses field data to decide whether your site passes the Core Web Vitals (CWV) assessment. As the CWV metrics are now part of Google’s ranking algorithm, field data may also affect your site’s organic rankings.

Similar to Google’s PageSpeed Insights report, NitroPack’s widget displays data for the three CWV metrics:

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) measures how long it takes for the largest above the fold element to load on a page.

  • First Input Delay (FID) measures the delay between a user’s first interaction and the moment the browser can respond.

  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) measures the significance of unexpected layout shifts on a page.

Each metric is broken down into three qualitative ratings: Good (green), Needs Improvement (yellow), and Poor (red).

Based on your site’s performance, you can see what percentage of page loads pass the threshold for each metric:

Additionally, NitroPack’s widget displays Before and After data to better understand the impact NitroPack has on your website’s performance.

NitroPack’s widget collects its data using the official Core Web Vitals library.
