Can I Run NitroPack on Localhost and Staging Domains?
Updated over a month ago

It’s important to note that NitroPack is not simply a caching plugin stored on your website. We also utilize a Cloud service to handle everything optimization-related.

This ensures no extra load is put on your server. In order for NitroPack to achieve all of this and optimize your website, it needs to be publicly accessible.

Here are some example scenarios ⬇️

Locally hosted websites (localhost)

Unfortunately, NitroPack will not be able to work on locally hosted websites, as they are not publicly accessible and are only available on the device where they are hosted.

Staging and Development websites

NitroPack is compatible with such websites as long as they are publicly accessible.

⚠️Keep in mind that such websites should be registered separately in NitroPack.

Here’s a guide on how to register such websites:

Password protected websites

Generally, NitroPack will not be able to work with any websites that are not publicly accessible yet, but there is a workaround.

If you wish for your website to remain password-protected while trying out NitroPack, this can be accomplished by allowing our service to bypass the password protection screen.

Do so by whitelisting NitroPack’s IP addresses either in your website’s .htaccess file (depending on how the password restriction is configured) or in the plugin used for password protection.

Whitelisting our IP address via your website’s .htaccess file should look like this:

The whitelisting code should be included in your own code where access is restricted.

You can find our IP addresses here:
