Notice your cache folder is taking up too much disk space?
By default, NitroPack stores your HTML cache for each page for your mobile and desktop on your website’s server. In some cases, this cache can start bloating.
There are two main reasons why NitroPack’s cache folder might grow in size:
1. The number of optimizations
You can check the number of optimizations NitroPack has created for your website via the NitroPack Dashboard > Cache status tab.
The amount of optimizations correlates with the file size that will be used. More optimized pages mean a larger file size in your hosting server.
2. Stale cache leftovers
They occur when the cache for your website’s pages has been Invalidated due to a change, for example.
You can learn more about the difference between Purge and Invalidate here:
How to delete Stale Cache Leftovers (automatically and via FTP)
There are two options that you can use here to take care of this:
1. Perform Full Cache Purge
Perform a full cache purge so NitroPack can remove unwanted files and generate new optimizations.
This option requires less effort, as you only need to visit https://nitropack.io/user/pages and purge your website’s cache.
2. Remove files/folders manually via FTP
However, if you choose to remove stale cache leftovers manually via FTP, read on to see where you can locate the files (for websites on WordPress, Magento, and OpenCart).
Before you begin, you should request FTP access to your website or a File Manager from your hosting provider. Alternatively, you may use a File Manager plugin such as:
In the below-mentioned directories for each installation, you will see a
/pagecache/ folder in which the files are located.
Once you’ve identified the files/folders that need to be removed, you can select and remove them.
For reference, those folders should contain the name “stale”, such as
For WordPress, we store the HTML cache under the following path:
For Magento, we store the HTML cache under the following path:
For OpenCart, we store the HTML cache under the following path:
